Conference Sexuality and Sexual Education: Interaction, Interdependence & Intersectionality

The Research Centre on Child Studies (CIEC), of the University of Minho in Braga (Portugal), will be hosting the “V International Conference on Sexuality and Sexual Education: Interaction, Interdependence and Intersectionality” on 28-30 November 2019.

This is the fifth Conference of a sequence that is held, alternately and biannually, in Portugal and Brazil, in the institutions that house a group of researchers working collaboratively in research on Sexuality and Sexual Education and that constitute the network responsible for this Conference: University of Minho (UM), University of Lisbon (UL), University of Aveiro (UA), School of Education of Coimbra (ESEC), Paulista State University “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP), State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC).
The purpose that unifies the realization of these Conference is the study of Sexuality as an interdisciplinary theme that unfolds in several areas of investigation and intervention, among them Sexual Education. In this context, the Fifth Conference focuses on a theme that reflects one of the main current issues in sexuality and sexuality education, assuming as a central concern (re) thinking the ways of conceptualizing, working and investigating the Interaction, Interdependence and Intersectionality of social relations in this area.
The Conference program includes Keynote speakers, round tables, poster sessions and parallel sessions of oral communications of research papers and / or practice reports. 

The official languages of the conference are Portuguese and English, although the submission of papers in Spanish is also accepted. Whenever possible, presentations of papers in parallel sessions will take into consideration the language in which they were submitted.

The topics under which the conference is organized are as follows: A – Sexuality, Health and Human Rights; B – Sexuality, Gender, Diversity and Inclusion; C – Body, Eroticism and Sexuality; D – Research and Practices in Sexuality and Sexual Education; E – Sexuality, Gender and Media; F – Sexuality, Sexual Education and Teacher Training; G – Public Policies on Sexuality and Sexual Education.

The target-participants are Researchers, Education Professionals (Early Childhood Educators, Teachers trainers, Secondary Education and Higher Education), Health Professionals, Students attending Courses in the fields of Education, Sexuality and Health, Psychologists, Sociologists, among others.
