European Commission - Day of European Authors - conference in Leuven (Belgium) - 25-26 March 2024

The first edition of the Day of European Authors, marked a significant milestone in promoting reading and literature.  The second edition will  show how schools, bookshops, libraries and other organisations, were invited to organise reading events on European books in all Creative Europe and Erasmus+ programme countries. The conference in Leuven will gather representatives of Ministries of Education and Culture, local and regional authorities,  along with practitioners from the education and the book sectors (authors, translators, librarians, booksellers, teachers, pedagogues,  etc..) and offer an opportunity to:

 ·       Share good practices which promote reading literacy from an early age through formal and non-formal learning;

·       Highlight the role of European authors and book professionals in promoting reading and multilingualism in and outside schools;

·       Put forward recommendations on how to tackle the declining reading skills and habits in Europe.
