Dear Colleagues, As the new RDCs coordinator for ATEE, I am very much looking forward to supporting ATEE in being a strong voice for teacher educators and issues of teacher education in Europe – together with our Research and Development Communities (RDCs). As coordinator, I will provide regular opportunities for networking and collegial support among RDCs as well as stakeholders within teacher education and ATEE partners – at conferences, RDC chair meetings and through communicating RDC work within and beyond ATEE. I have been active as a teacher educator since 2004 in various roles at the universities of Erlangen, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna, and a mentor at school, as I am also a trained secondary teacher of English and Spanish. Currently, I work at Vienna University, Austria, as a post-doc researcher and teacher educator. As a researcher in the field of teacher education, I have looked into the professional development, responsibility and creative potential of language teachers as well as supportive teacher education formats, such as Action Research, collegial collaboration or material development and the use of digital media. Since 2020, I have been active at ATEE events and have worked with Ron Smet and colleagues in various projects and roles. Since 2023, I have been chair of the RDC Empowering Teacher Education. In case you have not yet joined one of our RDCs, please, feel welcome to contact me to help in finding the right group for you, or to provide a good dose of encouragement to start your own one! ATEE’s annual conference in Dublin will be the next great opportunity to get to know the work and people behind our RDCs, offering an introductory networking meeting, RDCs working sessions as well as executive meetings for our RDCs chairs.
With best regards, Manuela Schlick
