The R&D Community on Secondary Teacher Education is a discussion platform for teacher educators, teachers and researchers interested in secondary teacher education. It aims to share relevant professional experiences, to reflect on teaching practices as well as to develop international research networks.
We welcome participants from all over the world, as soon as they are interested in reflecting, exchanging and generating both theory and best practices.
EARLY CAREER SECONDARY TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS ABOUT THEIR PRE-SERVICE EDUCATION AND THEIR
PREPAREDNESS FOR THE REALITY OF TEACHING
This project was initiated at the 2008 ATEE Conference. It aimed at presenting an international comparison of early career secondary teachers’ perceptions about their pre-service education and their preparedness for the reality of teaching.
Data on teacher education from different educational contexts were collected, namely from Australia, England, Ireland and Spain. Results were presented at the 2009 ATEE Conference in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

LINKING UNIVERSITY-BASED LEARNING AND
This project was kicked off at the 2009 Conference and aimed at providing insights into pre-service teachers’ school practices by analyzing the link between university-based learning and school-based learning.
Reports from university cohorts of pre-service teachers in Australia, England, Ireland, Spain and the United States were presented at the 2010 ATEE Conference.
