Spotlight on: The Eurydice Network

As we look to strengthen our international partnerships, it is essential to highlight the resources that drive European educational policy. Eurydice is a vital network consisting of 43 National Units that provide the "big picture" of education across Europe.

What they do:

  • Analyze Education Systems: They provide in-depth data and comparative analyses of how different countries structure learning.

  • Drive Policy: By publishing national system descriptions and comparative studies on critical topics, Eurydice provides the evidence base for modern policy-making.

  • Visualize Data: They transform complex issues into clear visuals and data sets, making it easier for researchers and educators to track European trends.

Each National Unit is appointed by its respective public authority, typically the Ministry of Education, ensuring that the insights provided are both authoritative and comprehensive.

For ATEE members, Eurydice is an indispensable tool for understanding the shifting landscape of teacher education and policy across the continent.

Do you want to discover the key features of the education system in your country or in one of the 27 Member States, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, the Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland, Türkiye and Ukraine?

Inside the Results: OECD’s First International Teacher Knowledge Survey (TKS)

The teaching profession has taken a major step forward in evidence-based practice. We are pleased to share insights from the OECD Teacher Knowledge Survey (TKS), the first large-scale study to provide internationally comparable data on general pedagogical knowledge.

In 2024, as part of an optional TALIS module, over 20,000 lower secondary teachers across eight countries were assessed on their pedagogical expertise and professional experiences. This landmark study doesn't just measure what teachers know—it explores how that knowledge is developed and sustained.

Why this matters for our members:

  • Policy Insights: Provides a roadmap for supporting teacher development globally.
  • Data-Driven Pedagogy: Offers a representative look at current teaching practices and perceptions.
  • Research Opportunities: Opens new doors for studying the link between teacher knowledge and classroom success.

Can you spot when you interact with AI systems? Or when you see AI-generated content?

EU Digital & Tech  just published draft guidelines to help AI deployers and providers comply with transparency obligations under the AI Act.

AI providers will need to inform people when they are:

▪️interacting with an AI system, and add machine-readable labels to enable the detection of AI-generated or manipulated content

▪️exposed to deepfakes, AI-generated text publications on matters of public interest, or emotion recognition and biometric categorisation systems

The draft guidelines aim to clarify the scope of the transparency obligations and to provide practical examples and explanations to support providers and deployers → link.europa.eu/GRmRPq

Digital Transformation: A New Online Home for ATEE

We are thrilled to announce that the ATEE website is currently undergoing a major redesign! As we approach our 50th anniversary, we are investing in a modern, more user-friendly digital platform to better serve our global community of teacher educators. Our goal is to create a space that makes it easier for you to access research, connect with RDCs, and stay updated on our latest events.

What to expect in the meantime: While our "digital builders" are at work, you may occasionally encounter some minor bugs, broken links, or slower loading times on atee.education.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition. We are working hard behind the scenes and aim to have the brand-new website fully operational by the beginning of the summer.

Thank you for being part of our journey toward a more connected and modern ATEE!
