ATEE 2020 Conferences: decisions by the Administrative Council

Dear Colleagues,

We trust this message finds you well, and thank you for your support for the Association in this very difficult times.

The ATEE Administrative Council met on Tuesday 31st March to review the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the travel bans imposed by some countries and the implications for the 2020 and 2021 ATEE conferences.

As members ourselves, we now the value of the conferences to you in terms of the opportunities they offer to present your research and network with new and existing colleagues from all over the world. However, the health and safety of you, as our members, and the conference participants and organisers is always our first priority. Therefore, with some reluctance, we unanimously agreed that the only sensible and realistic option is to postpone this year’s Spring and Annual Conferences. As such, we have asked the organisers to re-schedule their events for next year. The new dates have not yet been set, but these events are likely to be re-scheduled for May 2021 and September 2021. In the coming weeks, relevant information will be posted on the ATEE website about the 2020 Spring and Annual 2021 Conferences. In terms of the re-scheduled Winter Conference in Suceava (Romania), the organisers of the conference intend, for the time being, to try and host this from 6 to 8 July 2020.

In lieu of the conferences, we are planning a programme of online activities to bring our members together. Please check our website on a regular basis and read our newsletter for more information.

Like you, we hope that as soon as possible the current situation will improve enough so that some semblance of normality might return to our personal and professional lives. Until that time comes, however, we hope that you, your families and loved ones remain safe and healthy.

With very best wishes,

Davide Parmigiani and the Administrative Council of the ATEE
