ATEE statement on the Ukraine crisis

Following the recent events in Ukraine, the Association for Teacher Education in Europe – ATEE strongly condemns the current attack on Ukraine carried out by the Russian Government. This unprovoked use of military force against people directly opposes the fundamental convictions of tolerance, democracy, freedom, education and human rights set out in our Statutes, and any values we share with our members.

As promoters of education, we call for immediate humanitarian support and an increased cooperation with our Ukrainian partners.

As an association, we took the decision to suspend any collaboration with all Russian Universities, Organisations and Institutions until further notice.

The ATEE joins the voices of other education associations in Europe and across the world calling for Ukraine’s sovereignty to be respected and its right to self-determination. As an Association, we call upon all our education partners to work with us to support colleagues in Ukraine’s universities, colleges and schools.
