50 Years of ATEE: Bridging History and Innovation in Science and Mathematics Education

As part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of ATEE, we recently launched the series with a special webinar dedicated to the evolution of science and mathematics education.

The session provided an opportunity to reflect on the development of teacher education through the perspective of one of our long-standing members. Elizabeth Oldham, a member of ATEE since 1981, explored the profound shifts in science and mathematics education over the past half-century.

Connecting this historical perspective with present-day innovation, Lorraine Harbison presented the ATEE-supported project Mathscify, which is developing an innovative multilingual assessment tool for teachers and students.

To conclude the webinar, Laurinda Leite introduced the upcoming ATEE Winter Conference at the University of Minho in Braga, highlighting the next milestone in the anniversary celebrations.
